DENVER FLOODING (7/26/1998)
It is quiet outside in metropolitan Denver today, but that wasn't the case last night. There was heavy rain, lightning, hail and even reports of tornados. It came fast. This was the scene in downtown Denver when the storm hit at around five o'clock last night. There was flash flooding reported all over the metro area. The flooding affected Idaho Springs, and areas of the Cheyenne, Lincon and Yuma counties. During the height of the storms in the metropolitan area, a nearby creek, Cherry Creek, was surging out of its banks, covering the bike path that runs along it with a film of water. There were even more problems near the Denver International Airport, where along with heavy rains reaching two and a half inches there was a tornado warning.
