She was really cute.
\n

\n
Hannah's mom, Kate Taylor, said it's always been her dream to have chickens. They have a big back yard for them and a huge chicken coop.
\n

\n
We picked out four, kid-friendly chickens so theyre all four different breeds and theyre known for their friendliness and theyre all good egg layers also," said Kate. "We got them as chicks so we kept them inside with us for about two months. In the beginning, all the chickens were equally snuggled and then as time went on Brownie seemed to be the favorite."
\n

\n
This past summer, Hannah and Mila set up a lemonade stand and saved money from it.
\n

\n
In the beginning of the school year, they approached their mom.
\n

\n
I was in my office one day and the kids came in and said, 'Mom, we really want to buy a chicken leash,'" said Kate. Their Amazon wish list is out of control so I said, 'Guys, if you bring me some money I will buy you these leashes' and so they went to their piggy bank and they got their money that they saved up over the summer and gave it to me."
\n

\n
From there, four chicken leashes were purchased. Each chicken was equipped with a harness that goes over their feathers safely, and a hot pink leash was picked out for Brownie.
\n

\n
I watched some videos of how to put it on without her using her wings and then my mom taught me how to use it so she can actually use her wings," said Hannah.
\n

\n
Were really careful not to push the feathers up to make it uncomfortable for them so they seem to be fine with it," said Kate.
\n

\n
Hannah said the goal was to give their chickens and experience instead of their normal daily routine.
\n

\n
Initially, they started taking them for walks around their backyard, eventually moving into the front of their home and down the street.
\n

\n
She gets excited when the leash is on because she knows its time to go for a walk," she said. I want for their legs to get stronger so if they ever do get a little hurt their legs will still be strong. I also just think its kind of fun to walk the chickens because they love it so much because they get to see other grass they get to eat and bugs."
\n

\n
Hannah said a few weeks ago she asked her mom if she could bring Brownie to the bus stop. Usually, they would bring their dog but they wanted Brownie to send them off to school.
\n

\n
The kids every day want to bring something to the bus stop," said Kate. I think its hilarious. Theyre such funny kids and I think Brownie and this whole chicken on a leash thing just fits right into their personalities and what they loved to do so together."
\n

\n
After the first day they brought Brownie to the bus stop, she was the talk of their school.
\n

\n
When they first saw the chicken all of the boys and girls in the back were standing up and they kept looking at the chicken because it was so funny how the chicken had a leash walking down the street," said Hannah. I felt really happy because I think brownie really enjoyed it because she got to see a new thing."
\n

\n
Since the initial sendoffs, the Taylors have brought Brownie to the bus stop a few times.
\n

\n
It makes everyone smile and its just a feel-good thing," said Kate. It certainly makes me happy and I know the kids get a kick out of it too. They go to school on the bus with a big smile on their face."
\n

\n
Brownie is very sweet to us so we want to be sweet to her by taking her on walks, taking her to new places," said Hannah.
\n

\n

\n
--SUPERS--
\n
Tuesday
\n
North Kingstown, RI
\n

\n
Kate Taylor
\n
Mother
\n

\n
Hannah Taylor
\n
Sister
\n

\n
Mila Taylor
\n
Sister
\n

\n
--LEAD IN--
\n

\n
--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS--
\n

\n
As the sun starts to rise in North Kingstown and kids get ready for school. *nats* Four feathered friends in the back of the Taylor's home have a bite of breakfast.
\n

\n
> They all get treated like royalty.
\n

\n
But brownie, a cream leg bar chicken, doesn't get too comfortable.
\n

\n
> First thing in the morning, they want to go out and they want to see their chickens
\n

\n
Because she knows nine year old Hannah and her five year old sister Lila are coming
\n

\n
> In the beginning, all the chickens were equally snuggled and then as time went on, brownie seemed to be the favorite
\n

\n
To show admiration to the animals, and so they're not cooped up in a coop.
\n

\n
> Hi girls,
\n

\n
a hot pink leash was purchased.
\n

\n
So I was in my office one day and the kids came in and said mom, we really want to buy a chicken leash. *nats* They went to their piggy bank and they got their money that they'd saved up over the summer.
\n

\n
*nats*
\n

\n
Hannah says her chickens, happiness and health is imperative.
\n

\n
> I want them to like for their legs to get stronger -- so they can actually get some exercise besides our, our backyard.
\n

\n
And after doing some research and watching several videos
\n

\n
> because she's very cute.
\n

\n
Brownie is safely strapped in and ready to roll.
\n

\n
> Brownie is very sweet to us. 86754 “ UNCLE JIM’S DAIRY FARM ” 1963 NATIONAL DAIRY COUNCIL FILM MILK PRODUCTION
This film from the 1960’s is an educational short which follows the story of two city kids who spend the summer on their Uncle Jim’s farm with their two cousins. The children learn about the animals as well as what daily farm work chores are like. It depicts the similarity between human’s as well as animal’s needs for healthy sustenance and clean-living spaces. It is presented by The National Dairy Council (:08) and was produced by Atlas Film Corporation (:24). The film opens with scenic shots of cows grazing in pasture on Jim’s farm (:32). His children are Andy and Jane and they are pictured by the swing set (:42). The pair is waiting for their Aunt Alice and Uncle Fred to arrive with their cousins; George and Betty, whom they will be spending the summer with (1:16). Andy and Jane take George and Betty on a tour of the farm after their parents have left and they begin with the cow barn (1:41). Their older brother, Bill is inside the barn dumping out food for the cows (1:50) and he tells the children that they eat special mixture of ground grain in addition to grass, hay or silage (1:58). Jim is readying the cows for milking (2:09) and begins to milk them shortly afterwards (2:19). Andy and Jane show their cousin’s a rope to play on in the barn although Andy is the only one that can climb the rope as he is the biggest of the group (3:22). Bill then takes the four around the farm to feed the animals (4:18) beginning with a new calf nursing from it’s mother (4:24). Once the calf is grown enough to drink milk from a pail, it will be Andy’s responsibility to feed the calf (4:38). Jane then shows Betty the baby lambs (5:05). In the pig pen, baby pigs come running for feeding time (5:43) and they are fed a mixture of milk and ground grains (5:51). Older pigs eat this as well as corn and various types of feed (5:57). The chicken coop is pointed to as they have shelter same as humans need (6:07) and they are fed grains and milk mixed with feed (6:15). The baby chicks are fed by Betty and Jane (6:28) while Andy and George feed and play with the puppies (6:37). Jane’s kittens that she is in charge of feeding are seen drinking milk (6:47). The supper bell on the farm is rung (7:10) and the children rush in to wash up before sitting before Aunt Helen’s prepared meal (7:21). Afterwards, the children get ready for bed as a good night’s sleep is necessary for children to grow healthy and strong (8:29). The kids spent the summer in this way; helping with chores around the farm, playing with their cousins, eating healthy food and growing stronger (8:54). Near the summers end, the corn stalks which were once only as high as George’s knee are now seen taller than the boy (9:19). Animals on the farm have also grown with the kids and they are shown in montage including the calf (9:29), the pigs (9:34) and the chickens (9:38). Aunt Alice and Uncle Fred return to pick up their children and the film concludes (10:01).
