Chinese New Years is being celebrated in Chinatown, New York today, but not without some controversy. The New York City mayor issued a zero-tolerance for fireworks at the celebration. Some people protested the policy. Fireworks have been a traditional part of Chinese New Year for ages. Though the fireworks may be gone the parade is still as colorful, if not as loud or as sparkling, as always.
