And you know he reacted, and how does he react but make a record about it you know, put it in his rap. And I actually got a chance to talk at the VMA's and clear things up; it's all a good energy kind of thing and the purpose for even having all the interlude for all this stuff was that it kind of set up myself to have an answer to not anyone in particular but just all the hype and rumours and gossip in a way." 10. Clip Video - 'Dirrty', Christina Aguilera 11. Sot Christina Aguilera - On why the album took so long to record - "A lot of personal things came up along the way, that prohibited me from finishing it sooner than I wanted to, just personal things kind of that everyone goes through, but the deadlines and being in this business, being in the spotlight it's harder sometimes going through them, being in the public eye. So I had to just take a break for a minute here and there, and breathe a bit. But in the end, I think you know, a lot of hard times that I had gone through even while making the record, gave me a place to come from, more with emotion, and get in out on the record. So it worked out. Everything happens for a reason." 12. Clip Video - 'Dirrty', Christina Aguilera 13. Sot - Christina Aguilera - (having trouble talking) - "I'm sorry, I'm having a rough time, not feeling very well. 'Stripped' is a very personal record to me." 14. Clip Video - 'Dirrty', Christina Aguilera CHRISTINA AGUILERA TALKS "DIRRTY" When Christina Aguilera burst onto the pop scene in 1999, she was following in the wake of the first teen pop queen Britney Spears. But she proved herself when she had two number one hits in a row and beat sure-thing Britney to the Grammy award for Best New Artist. But now Christina seems to have taken a leaf out of Britney's book again with her latest offering, the sexually charged new single 'Dirrty'. Similarly to Britney's 'Slave 4 U' video, 'Dirrty' shows Christina writhing around with other semi naked bodies scantily clad in a bra top and leather trousers. But this time Christina has gone one better by making her trousers crotchless revealing her tiny red knickers underneath. When asked what the video is about she said "Turning 21, doing what any other 21 year old would do is go out and party and have fun." Her changed look also includes black streaks and braids in her blond hair, and piercings in her nose and underneath her lip, among other places. 'Dirty' is the first single from her latest album 'Stripped' which was released on 28th October. Instead of cheerful, pleasing pop tunes, the new disc has brooding ballads, introspective songs and hip-hop collaborations with Redman and Lil' Kim and Aguilera has co-wrote most of the songs. The change of image and sound wasn't something that her record company was that willing to accommodate and took some convincing on her part. "I had to fight pretty hard, I mean definitely the label could have been happy with another pop, really super driven, that way record, and you know it's playing the safe route and where to go; but I really don't like playing it safe, I am an individual and I don't like to go that route." Aguilera had been hoping for even bigger numbers from 'Stripped', considering it's part of her move to a more adult sound and it's her first proper studio album since her 1999 self-titled debut, which opened at number one. Her album didn't match up to the sales of Britney Spears whose 'Britney' sold 750,000 in its first week last year and it was also beaten to the number one slot in the album charts by Eminem's movie soundtrack to '8 Mile'. Aside from their chart battle the relationship between Eminem and Christina seems to have been patched up after she showed up last week for the premiere of his latest film '8 Mile. When asked about the situation she said, "He had any real hatred towards me, he just thought that obviously I had dissed him in an interview or something, which I haven't done. And you know he reacted, and how does he react but make a record about it you know, put it in his rap. And I actually got a chance to talk at the VMA's and clear things up." The teenage singing sensation spent three years of her childhood in Japan, and told the assembled press how glad she was to be back in her "second home". And just to make her feel really welcome, the cult Japanese character 'Hello Kitty' presented Christina with a bouquet of flowers. The nineteen year old also spoke about her excitement over her nominations for this year's Grammy Awards, where she'll be up against Madonna in the 'Best Female Pop Vocalist' category. The nominations have left fans wondering how Christina will fare against the Queen of Pop when the Grammy results are announced on February 21st. Not to mention whether she will be able to emulate her success last year, when she beat off competition from arch-rival Britney Spears to win the 'Best New Artist' Grammy. Christina's current tour has seen her travelling through Latin America, and the singer is certainly playing on her Ecuadorian roots to court the huge Latin market. Late last year she released a Spanish-language album, 'Mi Reflejo', which features six original songs as well as Spanish versions of her worldwide smash hits 'Genie In A Bottle', 'What A Girl Wants' and 'Come On Over Baby' ('Genio Atrapado', 'Una Mujer' and 'Ven Conmigo' respectively. 'Mi Reflejo' has been a huge hit in the Spanish-speaking world, and has earned Christina a further Grammy nomination for best Latin Pop Album. The singer gave the Tokyo crowd a sample of her Spanish songs. The Spanish language single 'Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti' ('Then I Remember You') is due to be released in Japan in mid-February. Christina's latest English offering is 'Nobody Wants To Be Lonely', her duet with fellow Latin sensation RICKY MARTIN. It will be released at the end of February. SHOTLIST: 1. Interscope 19. Music clip 'Lady Marmalade' LIFE HOTS UP FOR CHRISTINA AGUILERA ======================================== Latin teen star CHRISTINA AGUILERA is having a bumper year. Not only has she had a hit with her duet 'Nobody Wants to be Lonely' with Ricky Martin, she's got another single soaring up the US charts. The reworked 'Lady Marmalade' is another collaboration, this time with some of pop's finest females. And to top it all, she's just been named World's Best Selling Latin Female Artist at the World Music Awards in Monaco. The singer arrived at last week's awards ceremony with her boyfriend, and once inside performed with Ricky Martin for the celebrity heavy audience. The song has won her some notable fans - singer Anastacia among them - as well as lifelong support from her singing partner. Ricky Martin is quick to enthuse about her talent, saying he expects her to be talked about for many years to come. It's a view backed by many - the world music awards are based on sales, with trophies going to top selling recording artists from around the world by genre and by nationality. Christina was thrilled to receive hers, remembering how producers she worked with before she released a note would talk about the Monaco based prize as the award of awards. The event also gave the singer a chance to meet Prince Albert of Monaco. While the star admits she has mixed with royalty before, she claims Prince Albert is 'the coolest'. Aguilera's latest single sees her teaming up with Missy Elliot, Pink, and Lil' Kim, for a raunchy version of Patti Labelle's 'Lady Marmalade'. The song is part of the soundtrack for the Nicole Kidman movie 'Moulin Rouge' and features the singers imitating her 19th century courtesan character by wearing lingerie and show jewellery. It's all a long way from her early days as a 12 year old on the Mickey Mouse Club alongside fellow future stars Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake of 'NSYNC. At 14 she moved to Japan to record 'All I Wanna Do', a hit duet with local pop star Keizo Nakanishi. 1998 saw her back in America recording 'Reflection' for the soundtrack of Disney's full length animation Mulan. Shortly afterwards she was snapped up by RCA, and her debut album 'Christina Aguilera' hit the shops. That first long player was recorded with a host of leading songwriters and producers, and entered the US album chart at number one, following her assault on the US singles chart with 'Genie In A Bottle', which after 5 weeks at the top became the biggest selling US single of the year. She followed that success with another number one single in January 2000, 'What A Girl Wants', and another in October with 'Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)'. And her future career shows no signs of letting up - the star is heading back into a Los Angeles studio to record her next album. While there has been a Christina Aguilera Latin album 'Mi Reflejo' and a Christina Aguilera christmas album 'My Kind Of Christmas' the singer considers her new project to be the first real follow up to her debut collection Aguilera is eager to get going on her new material, saying the album will take her to a more personal place. And the rest of the world's invited. Their new version of 'Nobody Wants To Be Lonely' realises a long-held desire of the two artists to work together. But following this year's Billboard Music Awards - where Martin performed his latest hit, 'She Bangs,' and Christina won Female Artist of the Year - the pair finally seized the opportunity to sing together. Although Martin has been a superstar in the Spanish-speaking world for some time and had had varying success in Europe with some of his English language songs, it was really the release of "Livin' La Vida Loca" which put the former member of boy band Menudo on the international stage. Since then the Puerto Rican hip-swiveller has produced a stream of bona fide hits and he has become the object of desire of women all over the world. As a result, he has scooped numerous awards and his latest album "Sound Loaded" has sold more than 5.4m copies. It seems like a marketing dream come true for both Christina Aguilera and Ricky Martin to duet together. The pair are both seen as being two of the hottest young stars of the Latin music scene and both have had phenomenal success with their respective English and Spanish language albums. Although Christina Aguilera's musical career may have seemed to be overshadowed by that of her doppelganger Britney Spears when she was first launched, Aguilera branched out from the all-singing all-dancing young blonde schoolgirl image to produce a Latin version of her debut album, which has given Aguilera her own unique identity in the music industry. In fact her Latin album, "Mi Reflejo" has dominated the US' Latin charts for many weeks now and shows no signs of abating. The single, "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely" is a newly recorded duet version of the track off Martin's new album, "Sound Loaded", and is not available in any other format than the single, which will most likely ensure its success. Although the song is not released until the end of February, APTN caught up with Martin as he was warming up for his performance spot at the NRJ Awards in the South of France to bring you one of the first insights into what will no doubt be a phenomenal chart-topping combination. "Her bra-topped collection of Madonna rejects are pure fashion overkill," bitched the former dress designer in his 41st "worst-of" countdown of celebrity fashion victims. Spears topped Blackwell's list this year. Also making the dishonour roll for Y2K: Britney's rival, Christina Aguilera. "Is she a boring and body-baring bungle--or just auditioning for Sheena, Queen of the Jungle?" For singer-turned-actress Bjfrk, Mr. Blackwell thought she must have been dressing, not dancing, in the dark. Never one to be left off a top 10 list, Madonna earned Mr. Blackwell's wrath for her chameleonic ways. "From Ghetto Glam to Rhinestone Cowgirl to Mrs. Guy Ritchie. Any way you label it, she's still just kitschy, kitschy, kitschy!" Of Mariah Carey ("her X-rated Baby Doll disasters are laughably low-rent"), Mr. Blackwell could only wonder if her designer was Larry Flynt? Blackwell also thinks advice queen Dr. Laura Schlesinger could use some advice herself. "When it comes down to fashion horror, no one does it better than Dr. Laura. A turtlenecked Terror!" Other notables Blackwell bagged on for their sartorial crimes: Angelina Jolie ("Fashion interrupted. Hit by a Gen-X gothic hex!"), Elizabeth Hurley ("Poor Liz: Her barely there fashion bombs have hit a sour note--a word of advice, buy a coat!"), Courtney Love ("When push comes to shove, no one's fashion is tackier and wackier then punky, funky love!") and Florida's math-challenged Secretary of State Katherine Harris ("The pretty, brassy lassie from Tallahassee needs cosmetic direction--her paint-by-numbers make-up screams out for discretion! Clip - 'Die Another Day', Madonna MADONNA CALLS BRITNEY HOMOGENISED Madonna has slammed manufactured pop acts and labelled Pink, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera "homogenised". The pop star accused record chiefs of working out how wannabes can be marketed rather than finding true talents. In an interview with the May edition of music magazine Q Madonna said she could not understand the direction the music world was taking. In the UK acts spawned by talent shows Pop Idol and the two Popstars series have enjoyed a number of huge successes. And in the US, where Madonna is currently based although she still has a home in the UK, American Idol 2 is again enjoying a large audience. Madonna said: "I arrived at a different time - before the time of Svengalis holding talent searches; finding a girl that looks right and can carry a tune and then figuring a way to market her." Referring to Pink, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, she said: "I'm not saying those girls can't grow into something, but I really don't know where we're going with the world. "Everything's so homogenised." Madonna, 44, was also critical of young hopefuls' craving for celebrity for its own sake, rather than finding acclaim for their abilities. "It's the allure of this beautiful life. Drive this car, you're gonna be popular," she told Q, which goes on sale on April 1. "It's a very powerful illusion and people are caught up in it, including myself - or I was." The singer rose to fame thanks to her provocative image, but despite years of wearing ludicrous outfits she takes a firm line on what her own children should wear. Asked if she felt able to stop her daughter Lourdes from dressing how she wants, Madonna said: "I can and I do." Durst, 32, revealed the news himself, on his official website. He wrote: "I really like her and that's about all I should say." Choosing, however, to continue he added, "She's a sweet, amazing girl and I'm happy to know her right now. You are my family and you know you can trust me and my judgment!" The Limp Bizkit singer had been spotted spending nights in Spear's home, and the pair have been enjoying boozy nights at all the right clubs. Fred Durst has also been linked to Britney's arch-rival Christina Aguilera a few years ago (who in turn, was also linked to Justin Timberlake just after he split from Britney). Meanwhile, the video for the N'Syncer's latest effort see's the white soul boy breaking into the house of an estranged blonde girlfriend who is a carbon copy of Britney. In the song, Timberlake croons about infidelity and loss, and the lyrics, coupled with the Britney look-alike, have been interpreted as everything from gut-wrenching to just plain mean. VS Britney Spears BRITNEY SPEARS' UPS AND DOWNS FOR 2002 2002 has been a tumultuous year for Britney Spears. The news that she has been fired by drinks giant Pepsi was the final indignity which began with disappointing sales of her third album and poor reviews of her big-screen debut in 'Crossroads.' Then a world tour turned into a public relations disaster. In Mexico the press turned on her after she "flipped them the finger", fans chanted at her and she was booed. It's not the first time the twenty-one-old singer has enraged both press and public recently. Her angelic image was initially tarnished when she was booed in London, England and Sydney, Australia. While promoting her film 'Crossroads' in Australia in April, fans where outraged by how little time she spent with them. Even that was a case of 'Oops (I Did It Again).' The pop princess had been booed just weeks earlier at the London premiere of 'Crossroads'. The 20-year-old star enraged thousands of young fans who had waited for hours in the cold, by failing to go on a walkabout or sign autographs before the start of the movie. So, could it be that the once pristine Britney is losing her once Midas touch with her fans? Some in the British press have suggested that the sex kitten image she has adopted in the videos for 'I'm A Slave 4 U' and 'Overprotected' may be alienating her young fans, and hurting her album sales. Whether or not her young followers are turned off by her erotic new look, she can certainly ill afford to upset her loyal fans base again. Then there were problems with her Manhattan restaurant Nyla, which resulted in her breaking off her involvement at the beginning of December after just five months. Finally, a well-publicized break-up with long-tem boyfriend Justin Timberlake, her parents' divorce, and a self-imposed six-month break from the business fueled rumours that Spears' once rock-solid career was beginning to crumble.

Music clip 'Boys' BRITNEY 21 TODAY Pop icon BRITNEY SPEARS celebrates her 21st birthday today (December 2, 2002), three years after she broke onto the music scene with her smash hit 'Baby One More Time'. Born in rural Louisiana, teen popster Britney Spears was groomed for stardom from the start. She spent her early childhood performing in talent shows and dance reviews before, at age eight, she was discovered by a TV producer who hooked her up with a New York agent. Britney spent her summers in New York studying at the Off-Broadway Dance Center and the Professional Performing Arts School and began picking up television commercials. At 10 she landed a role in the off-Broadway production 'Ruthless' and a year later was cast in the Disney Channel's popular Mickey Mouse Club Show. After two years of taping the Disney show in Orlando, Britney returned to Louisiana and set her sites on a career in pop music. She was quickly recruited by Jive Records, home of the Backstreet Boys, and teamed up with Eric Foster (Whitney Houston, Hi-Five) and Max Martin (Robyn, Backstreet Boys), who produced her debut album. 'Baby One More Time' hit record store shelves in early 1999 and became one of the best selling albums of the year, helping to earn Spears a Grammy nomination for "Best New Artist." (The award went to teen queen rival Christina Aguilera.) Spears' sophomore effort, Oops!...I Did It Again, came out in May 2000. The album - which sold 1.3 million copies during its first week of release, beating Mariah Carey's record for the highest first-week sales by a female solo artist - earned Spears nominations in the Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance categories at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards the following year. Britney mania reached an all-time high as fans eagerly anticipated her third album, and the paparazzi tried to document every move she made with boyfriend Justin Timberlake. In 2001, the simply-titled 'Britney' marked a departure for the pop princess. Spears moved away from bubble-gum pop and more toward techno (thanks to the production team of the Neptunes) and more mature ballads. The singles, 'I'm a Slave 4 U,' and 'I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,' did their best to position Spears away from the pre-teen audience. 2002 has been a tumultuous year for Spears. The sales of her third album were considered disappointing, reviews of her big-screen debut in 'Crossroads' were less than stellar, and there were problems with her Manhattan restaurant Nyla, which resulted in her breaking off her involvement last week after just five months. Finally, a well-publicized break-up with Justin Timberlake, her parents' divorce, and a self-imposed six-month break from the business fueled rumours that Spears' once rock-solid career was beginning to crumble. Spears denied the rumours and told the story in her own words for People magazine. While there are no immediate plans to record another album, Spears, after a making a cameo in 'Austin Powers: Goldmember,' may concentrate more on acting. In fact, she signed a deal with NASCAR to make a film about car racing in the near future.
