History of China From 1900-1950
B/W 1940s Mao Tse-tung arrives in Jungking post-WWII for talks with Chiang. Mao is met by American ambassador to China, Major General Patrick Hurley. VS of Japanese signing documents. Chinese nationalists mobilize to take control of cities formerly occupied by Japan. Chinese communists mobilize, head for Manchuria - animated map shows both nationalist and communist routes. General George Marshall replaces Hurley. VS Marshall's arrival in China being met at airport by Chiang Kai-shek. Marshall greets communist negotiator, Chou En-lai, to his house in Jungking, for meeting with Chiang's negotiator. VS leaders posing together outside of building. January 1946 - parties celebrate truce by signing papers and shaking hands. VS Manchuria, empty factories destroyed by retreating Russians.VS including CU Mao.
