A CAMERA CREW FOLLOWED BERKELEY CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS BACK INTO THEIR FIRE RAVAGED NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE RESIDENTS SURVEYED THE DAMAGED CAUSED BY DEADLY BRUSH FIRES. THE FIRES SKIPPED SOME HOUSES WHILE IT LEVELED MANY OTHERS. MOST OF THE HOUSES SPARED BY THE FIRE HAD RED TILE ROOFS AS OPPOSED TO SHAKE-SHINGLE ROOFS WHICH CATCH FIRE AND BURN EASILY. IN MANY PARTS OF THE WEST SHAKE SHINGLE ROOFS ARE BANNED ON NEW STRUCTURES.
