Apollo 17 astronauts on the lunar surface with the lunar rover and Lunar Module (LM). This was during the third extravehicular activity (EVA 3) on 13th December. Apollo 17 had launched on 7th December 1972 and entered Moon orbit three days later. On 11th December astronauts Gene Cernan and Harrison 'Jack' Schmitt descended to the Moon's surface in the Lunar Module, leaving Ronald Evans orbiting in the Command Module (CM). Apollo 17 was the last crewed flight to the Moon.

Women perform final calibration and hand finishing of munitions casings. Army representatives perform inspections. A woman reams final holes for detonators (fuzes) in casing noses. Munitions are measured and passed through final set of acceptance guages, including a barrel gauge. Women stamp dates and other information on the casings with hammers and dies.
