JERRY THE TROUBLESOME TYKE - ALL UP A TREE
Animation featuring Jerry the Troublesome Tyke - a cartoon dog. A cartoon curtain rises. A U.I.C. production. Intertitle reads: "Dead Men tell no tales - but these speak for themselves!" Illustration shows some beer bottles on the ground. We see Jerry standing beside the bottles pouring himself a beer. He is standing beside the clubhouse of a golf course drinking the beer of another golfer who is having a snooze. This film seems to follow on from the other Jerry film called: "Jerry the Troublesome Tyke - Golf." Jerry pours the beer, blows the froth off the top and then drinks the whole glass. He throws the glass on top of the bottle, laughing. He picks up his golf club, hiccuping. He hits a ball, it bounces off one of the hole markers and hits Jerry in the face. He sees stars. He plucks one of the stars out of the air and sets it down in the ground. He hits it and it rolls into the hole. He laughs. He takes another ball from his pocket and hits it. It bounces a long way then drops into the mouth of a man who is having a sleep on the golf course. As he snores the ball lifts up and down. Jerry sees the ball which he thinks is balanced on the top of a hill. He then sees it rising and falling as the man snores. He takes out a gun and shoots it. The man appears and looks angry, Jerry flies off to get out of the way.

Under a tree Jerry is about to hit another ball. He shouts "FORE!" and this frightens a bird in a tree who lays eggs on Jerry's head. The bird laughs. Jerry gets annoyed and starts chasing the bird. The bird picks up a golf ball in its mouth. He flies up into the tree and drops the ball in his nest. Jerry looks annoyed. Jerry decides to climb inside the tree and get his revenge on the bird. He hits it with the golf club. Jerry laughs. The bird lands on the ground and sees stars. Jerry laughs so much that he falls off the tree. Another bird laughs at them both lying at the bottom of the tree seeing stars. The End.

Was an item in Pathe Pictorial, issue number unknown.

Can EP313 was originally mislabelled as EP382.

FELIX THE CAT GETS REVENGE
Animation. One in the series of "Adventures of Felix the Cat" catoons by Pat Sullivan.

A young boy climbs over a fence and up a tree to steal an apple. A dog barks then runs after the boy. The boy jumps up and hangs off a tree branch but the dog jumps up and bites his butt. The dog is hanging on to the boys shorts and the boy is shouting: "Help!". Felix is walking along and hears the boy. He sees what is happening, jumps on to the dog then they fight like cat and dog (!). Best bit is when Felix pulls his own tail off and hits the dog on the head with it. The dog is dazed and falls to the ground. Felix laughs, the boy jumps down and the two shake hands. The boy invites Felix to come and live with him. Felix agrees. The two leapfrog over each other then Felix jumps on the boys back and they run to his house. Felix stops to wipe his feet on the mat before he goes in. The door closes then there are signs that all is not well inside.

Stars, puffs of smoke and the word "Bang" appear, followed by Felix being propelled through the window by an unseen force. The moustachioed father figure appears and shouts at Felix that he should go back to the Garbage Can where he belongs. The man throws a pot at Felix who then runs off. The boy is obviously getting a beating from his father as the words: "Wallop" and "Oooh" appear. We see the boy crying and the father holding a big stick. Felix paces up and down, thinking. He then takes off his tail which he sticks in the ground. The tail burrows into the ground, making a hole which Felix jumps into, coming out of the other end inside the house. The father has two flies buzzing around him as he tries to sleep. C/U of flies doing a dance on his bald head. Felix laughs. He decides if he gets rid of the flies the father will like him. But hitting the father over the head with a question mark (?!) just makes him even more angry.

The two fight and the father knocks Felix right through the house wall - leaving a Felix shaped hole. Felix walks off deep in thought. He comes to a Public Telephone and makes a call - lots of facial expressions. The phone rings in the boys house. He answers it and nods, then Felix squeezes into the handset of the telephone. We see the bulge that is Felix travelling down telephone wires then coming out of the boys telephone handset. The two shake hands and laugh. They look around for the father but don't see him. Felix does a dance. The father spots him and he runs up the chimney and up on to the roof of the house. The father comes out of the chimney with a large gun which he fires at Felix as he runs away.

Story incomplete?

Note: Felix the Cat made his first appearance in Great Britain as part of Eve's Film Review.
