This film has been produced by the Army Information Branch (:17) and opens with the words ‘Battle of the United States’ over the Department of Justice, FBI insignia (:30). The director of the FBI at the time was J. Edgar Hoover and he addresses viewers about this battle of the United States (:55). Black and white shots of New York in 1941 (:43), the World’s Fair; which was in it’s second year (1:50) the Brooklyn Dodgers (1:52) and draft soldiers in their civilian clothes on the weekend (2:05) are used to summarize the positives of the year. The film cuts next to the negatives, a short wave German radio set that had been captured in the Bronx (2:25), an American ship that had been torpedoed in the Caribbean (2:29) and intercepted letters containing military information (2:38). Nazism was found in places such as a home in Los Angeles (2:47), in Chicago; Camp Hindenberg (2:55), New Jersey; Camp Nordland, and in Long Island; Camp Siegfried (3:08). A pamphlet with the swastika stamped on it is shown in the streets of New York (3:27). At the FBI headquarters, finger print files appear on slides (4:35) and a chart showing where foreign agents and mail drops were tracked are depicted (4:40). The Yawata Maru is shown at (4:56). A map tracking where German colonists had settled in Patagonia (6:03) and a German merchant fleet follow (7:15). Pictures of Hitler are put up in school houses (8:01) and other establishments such as airliners and shops were set up (8:18). The thirty-three agents that had been convicted after reports of an attack on the Panama Canal were delivered to the FBI are shown in black and white footage (9:34). The Duquesne Case (9:45) is a once sealed case that is unsealed for this films purpose and the actual footage follows (10:05), opening with Harry Sawyer pacing along the street. Colonel Fritz Duquesne is pictured walking into the trap set up by the FBI (10:34). The images shown are from a concealed camera in the office next to where Sawyer had been established in New York City (10:53). Heinrich Clausing is caught on film (10:58) as well as Hartwig Kleiss (11:34). Duquesne is then shown pulling diagrams from his sock (12:07). Takeo Ezima of the Royal Japanese Navy is the last to be shown as the case film concludes (12:51). In May of 1942, two German subs had landed in Long Island and Florida (13:23) and blocks of TNT that had been disguised as lumps of coal are shown (13:41).
