Crowds line the sidewalks of Broadway, in Manhattan, New York City, watching a ticker tape parade celebrating the arrival of the SS Chantier, carrying U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Richard E. Byrd, and pilot Floyd Bennett, home to America, after their successful flight over the North Pole. Byrd , in Navy uniform, and Bennett, at his left, in civilian clothes, march in the center of the parade. An echelon formation of six military aircraft flies over the scene. View of City Hall, with military honor guards in formation and crowds lining the sidewalks. The group of marchers, including Byrd and Bennett, turns toward the steps of the City Hall (Where they are to be officially greeted by New York Mayor, James Walker).
