78464 "AS THE WHEELS TURN" 1950 CHEVROLET DELUXE PROMO FILM BY JAM HANDY
This 1950 longform advertisement produced by Jam Handy Productions looks at the different features on the new Chevrolet Deluxe. It features a man explaining them to his wife by building a model of the car out of objects on their picnic table. The new features include new forms of steering, suspension, shock absorbers, and seat placement. The Chevrolet Deluxe is a trim line of Chevrolet automobiles that was marketed from 1941 to 1952, and was the volume sales leader for the market during the 1940s. The line included at first a 4-door sedan, but grew to include a fastback 2-door "aerosedan" and other body styles. Many things changed starting in 1950, starting with a luxuriously-appointed hardtop coupe, called the Bel Air. The new Bel Air including upgraded cord and leather-grain vinyl trim (available in a choice of several two-tone schemes), full carpeting and other appointments not available in even the Deluxe series, and a wide range of two-tone paint schemes.

0:06 Your Chevrolet Dealer Presents “As the Wheels Turn”, produced by Jam Handy, 0:21 a family driving up to a picnic table in a Chevrolet Deluxe, 1:09 the family sets the picnic table and begins eating, 2:03 man begins using things on the table to explain how the axle of the new Chevrolet Deluxe works, 2:53 animation showing Chevrolet front wheel suspension, 3:26 man demonstrates how tie rods work on the small model he made, 4:27 demonstration of how this looks in a driving car, kids play on the see saw, 5:05 man slowly builds more of the model to show how suspension and seat placements affects the passengers, 6:08 demonstration of a shackle and spring suspension system, 7:07 demonstration of what this looks like in the Chevrolet Deluxe, 7:27 a DC-6 of Northwest landing, 7:44 man makes model of a shock absorber, 8:26 animation showing how shock absorbers work on the Chevrolet Deluxe, 8:54 the man and his wife talk as the kids play on a swingset, 9:50 animation showing how the ventilation system works, 11:12 couple begins packing up their things, 11:34 Chevrolet Deluxe driving

Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction.
