TOMEI STEPS OUT FOR A HAPPY ACCIDENT
Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei returns to the screen in North America this weekend with the release of her latest film 'Happy Accidents', which was launched last night in New York.
Tomei and her co-stars, Parker Posey and Vincent D'Onofrio turned out last night to the premiere of the film, which, according to critics, successfully melds the two genres of romantic comedy and science fiction together.
Marisa Tomei stars as Ruby, a single girl who insists she is an incurable romantic, after having a string of failed relationships.
That is until she meets Sam (D'Onofrio), who, although he claims to come from Iowa, appears to be from a different world altogether.
After they move in together, Ruby starts noticing various quirks to Sam's character, like his terror of small dogs and his obsession to draw the face of an unknown woman.
Ruby grills Sam for answers, until he finally cracks and admits that he has time travelled from the year 2470 to change the future. Although Ruby is sure that this cannot be the case, Sam continues to prove the verity of his background and claims he has come back in time to save Ruby from a horrible accident.
Marisa Tomei won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the comedy 'My Cousin Vinny'. The New York-born actress, 36 , has also appeared in 'The Perez Family', 'The Slums of Beverly Hills' and the Mel Gibson comedy 'What Women Want'.
The film is directed by Brad Anderson, who is also responsible for the recently released film 'Session 9.'
'Happy Accidents' is out tomorrow (August 24th) in North America.
