This 1950s color film is presented by the United States Rubber Company and directed by naturalist and explorer Van Campen Heilner. It features a live bullfight and its various stages of weakening the bull. A painting of a bullfighter with a bull is shown, which changes to the live event (:32-:40). The stands are packed at the Plaza de Toros Mexico (:41-:46). The bull charges around the ring (:48). A herd of bulls graze outside Mexico City (:56-1:31). One wild bull stands apart (1:10). The matadors leave the hacienda to watch the young calves be tested for bravery versus butchering (1:32-2:09). The calves are herded into the arena one by one and a matador with a cape incites it. A clown joins and lies on the ground as the calf walks over him (2:10-3:57). Young matadors and boys wearing bull heads learn to use the cape and the artistic arm movements and footwork required in the ring (3:58-4:52). A man practices planting two banderillas into the neck of a fake bull pushed on a wheelbarrow (4:53-5:06). A large barbeque is prepared at the hacienda (5:22). Back at the Plaza de Toros, a bull enters through a red gate, and other bulls are released into a waiting area (5:39-6:05). A herald enters the arena on horseback and the crowd is panned before the herald backs his horse across the arena (6:06-6:45). The matadors in elaborate costumes and entourage enter the ring (6:46-7:33). A bull charges and elaborate capote (cape) work is shown by a matador (7:35-8:15). A picador enters on horseback and stabs the bull with a lance (8:16-8:50). The matador performs elaborate cape moves (8:51-9:30). Each of three banderilleros plant two barbed sticks (banderillas) into the bull. Shots of the bleeding bull’s back can be seen (9:31-10:14).
