Television industry leaders announce a new system of t-v guidelines to help parents monitor their children's viewing... and they're prepared to defend their new system. Announced by Jack Valenti, who chaired the group that worked on the ratings.. the ratings could show up as soon as early next year. The system uses six ratings based on age.. similar to the movie rating system already in place. Valenti says for the system to work.. the industry.. not an outside body, must do the ratings. And parents need to monitor what shows their children are watching.
