A suspect was wanted for questioning in connection with a drug investigation. Corporal Cole stopped at a known residence of the suspect to question him and was ambushed and shot by the suspect while on the premises.\n\n Patrolman Matthew S Forgach\nDepartment: Newport Twp, Pennsylvania, P.D.\nEnd of Watch: January 23, 1960\nAge: 61\nYears of Service: 35\nDescription: Patrolman Forgach was responding to a two vehicle crash when he suffered a fatal heart attack\n\n Officer Bernard D Ratliff\nDepartment: Kentucky Dept. of Fish & Wildlife Resources\nEnd of Watch: June 21, 1999\nAge: 51\nYears of Service: 20\nDescription: Officer Ratliff suffered a fatal heart attack while participating in the department weekly physical training program after completing the first part of his shift on patrol. Officer Ratliff was on duty and compensated during the training session.\n\n Officer William H Knecht\nDepartment: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, P.D.\nEnd of Watch: June 20, 1898\nAge: 63\nYears of Service: 36\nDescription: On June 1, 1898, Police Officer Knecht collapsed after working to relieve the suffering of a motorman who had suffered a serious chest injury. Officer Knecht was overcome due to exertion and the heat. Officer Knecht was transported home and a physician was summoned. Officer Knecht did not return to work and died 19 days later on June 20th.\n\n Officer Everett L Terwilliger\nDepartment: Town of Fallsburg, New York, P.D.\nEnd of Watch: January 6, 1973\nAge: 47\nYears of Service: 2\nDescription: Police Officer Terwilliger suffered multiple fatal injuries in an automobile crash when his patrol vehicle skidded on the ice and collided with a truck. Officer Terwilliger was returning to headquarters after completing a call when the incident occurred.\n\n Deputy Sheriff Ralph F Peckham\nDepartment: Bennington County, Vermont, S.O.\nEnd of Watch: May 27, 1935\nAge: 28\nYears of Service: 2\nDescription: Deputy Sheriff Peckham was injured in a single motorcycle crash while in pursuit of a speeding motorist. Deputy Peckham was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries and died two days later.\n\n Officer Darren M Weathers\nDepartment: Detroit, Michigan, P.D.\nEnd of Watch: February 13, 2018\nAge: 25\nYears of Service: 2\nDescription: Police Officer Weathers was killed in a vehicle crash during a surveillance training exercise. Officer Weathers was assigned to the Professional Accountability Integrity Unit and working undercover in his unmarked vehicle. Officer Weathers struck the front end of the other vehicle and the impact launched his vehicle into a concrete railroad support pillar, which caused the vehicle to split in half. Officer Weathers was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.\n\n Officer Amy S Caprio\nDepartment: Baltimore County, Maryland, P.D.\nEnd of Watch: May 21, 2018\nAge: 29\nYears of Service: 4\nDescription: Police Officer Caprio was intentionally struck and killed by a vehicle driven by a juvenile burglary suspect. Officer Caprio was dispatched to a home that had just been burglarized and made contact with the suspect when she was struck.
