42744 F-4C PHANTOM II w/ MOCK-UP B-61 NUCLEAR BOMBS TACTICAL AIR COMMAND
This short, silent training film is a bit of a mystery. It begins with images of an F-4 Phantom II in camouflage paint scheme in a hangar, with crew checking out a large piece of ordnance, possibly a B-61 or B28 nuclear weapon or mockup. At the 2:30 mark, a mock-up of what appears to be a B-61 nuclear weapon is shown. At 4:13 another weapon is shown, possibly a B28EX nuclear weapon mock-up. The B28, originally Mark 28, was a thermonuclear bomb carried by U.S. tactical fighter bombers, attack aircraft and bomber aircraft. The B61 nuclear bomb is the primary thermonuclear gravity bomb in the United States Enduring Stockpile following the end of the Cold War. It is a low to intermediate-yield strategic and tactical nuclear weapon featuring a two-stage radiation implosion design.

We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment!
