THREE ISRAELIS WERE KILLED ON FRIDAY IN STABBING ATTACK IN AN ISRAELI SETTLEMENT IN THE WEST BANK.
ON THE SAME DAY EARLIER, THREE PALESTINIANS WERE KILLED AND MORE THAN 100 INJURED IN JERUSALEM CLASHES.
THE TENSIONS WERE FUELED BY A DECISION BY ISRAELI AUTHORITIES TO INSTALL METAL DETECTORS AT ENTRANCES TO A KEY MUSLIM HOLY SITE IN THE OLD CITY AND BAR MALE WORSHIPERS UNDER 50 FROM ATTENDING FRIDAY PRAYERS THERE.
CNN"S IAN LEE REPORTS FROM JERUSALEM.

 --REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS--
TENSIONS TURN PRAYER INTO PROTEST.
BOTH SIDES ANTICIPATED THE VIOLENCE THIS FRIDAY
PITTING ISRAELI POLICE AGAINST PALESTINIANS… PROJECTILES FILL THE AIR…
ISRAELI POLICE USE STUN GRENADES, TEAR GAS AND WATER CANONS…PALESTINIANS THROW ROCKS AND FIREWORKS….
TURNING QUIET JERUSALEM STREETS INTO BATTLE ZONES.
Abdel Nour: "They just want us to leave the country and we aren"t leaving. They don"t know this. There is no way for us to leave. Even me, if they kick me out of Jerusalem. There is no meaning for my life after that because everything that belongs to me is here"
THE DAY"S VIOLENCE PAID IN BLOOD.
HERE THE BODY OF A DEAD PALESTINIAN LEAVING THE HOSPITAL.
ONE OF SEVERAL PALESTINIANS KILLED IN THE VOLLEY…HUNDREDS MORE INJURED IN JERUSALEM AND THE WEST BANK, ACCORDING TO THE PALESTINIAN MINISTRY OF HEALTH.
SEVERAL OFFICERS TOO SUSTAINED INJURIES, ACCORDING TO POLICE.
Micky Rosenfeld, Israeli Police spokesman "Border police units and Israeli national police units responded to disturbances in Ras Al Lamud, Wadi Jas, Isawi, where our police units are located and are responding using nonlethal weapons after both stones and fireworks had been fired directly at our police officers."
THIS CYCLE OF VIOLENCE BEGAN OVER A WEEK AGO … WITH THE KILLING OF TWO ISRAELI POLICEMEN.
NEW SECURITY MEASURES AROUND THE TEMPLE MOUNT, KNOWN TO MUSLIMS AS THE NOBLE SANCTUARY INFURIATED PALESTINIANS WHO ACCUSED ISRAEL OF TRYING TO EXPAND THEIR CONTROL AND LIMIT ACCESS TO AL AQSA MOSQUE.
"WE ALL KNOW AL AQSA IS FOR MUSLIMS," ALI TELLS ME. "THE OCCUPATION CROSSED ALL THE RED LINES…THOSE METAL DETECTORS PREVENT US FROM OUR RIGHT TO PRAY FREELY."
ISRAEL"S PRIME MINISTER INSISTS HE HAS NO PLANS TO CHANGE THE RULES GOVERNING THE HOLY COMPLEX. NETANYAHU SAYS HE"LL STICK WITH THE STATUS QUO.
MEANWHILE, AUTHORITIES HAVE DEPLOYED THOUSANDS OF EXTRA SECURITY PERSONAL IN AND AROUND JERUSALEM.
THE VIOLENCE SEEN HERE ALSO PLAYING OUT ACROSS THE WEST BANK.
Ian Lee: "Police are pushing the protesters away from the old city. You can see here on the ground pieces of concrete and rocks that they are throwing at the police. The police are using stun grenades and rubber bullets to push them back. But It"s really been a game of cat and mouse."
POLICE CAPTURED A NUMBER OF PROTESTERS…MORE THAN TWO-DOZEN ARRESTED IN JERUSALEM AND WEST BANK.
POLICE SAY THE DAY"S ACTIONS WERE DESIGNED TO KEEP THE PIECE WITH NONLETHAL WEAPONS.
BUT IN A LAND WHERE VIOLENCE BEGETS VIOLENCE… CLASHES WON"T LIKELY END THE CURRENT TURMOIL… IT"LL MORE LIKELY TAKE A POLITICAL SOLUTION.

MULTIPLE REPORTS NOW SAY TWO PALESTINIANS HAVE BEEN KILLED IN CLASHES WITH ISRAELI FORCES -- ON A THIRD "DAY OF RAGE" AGAINST DONALD TRUMP"S DECISION TO RECOGNIZE JERUSALEM AS THE CAPITAL OF ISRAEL.
THE ISRAELI MILITARY SAYS IT BOMBED MILITANT TARGETS IN GAZA FRIDAY -- IN RETALIATION FOR ROCKET ATTACKS AIMED AT ISRAELI TOWNS.<tab />
CNN"S IAN LEE HAS THIS REPORT FROM THE WEST BANK.

 --REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS--
After Friday prayers we saw protesters going out in the streets not only here in Bethlehem but also in Jerusalem. We saw them in Ramallah going out again another day of rage protesting, clashing with the Israeli military. We saw them throwing stones, marbles and as well as the Israeli military responding with tear gas and rubber bullets. And these clashes went on for hours and as night fell they dispersed. I just want to show you another spot, another way how Palestinians are reacting to President Trump"s announcement. Here we are in Manger Square in Bethlehem. Right here is the Church of the Nativity where Christians believe Jesus was born. And this square usually would be full of lights and festivities. This is the Christmas season. But as you can see it"s quite dark. The tree behind me, the Christmas tree, lights are off all the festive lights have been turned off out of mourning and this is their response to the president"s announcement. It"s not just the Muslims but also Christians, both of them, all Palestinian people are are angry about this. And so you have people coming out and showing their grief in different ways. But when you speak with the people, we ask them how how long will these days of rage continue. And right now they say that really they don"t know if the protests will continue -- it really is up in the air. But the one thing they"re looking for is leadership from Palestinian officials. They"re waiting to see what they have to say about what their path forward is going to be.

And this manifested itself in protests across several parts of the West Bank and Gaza on Friday. At most locations we visited in the West Bank, we saw dozens of Palestinians throwing rocks and burning tires. Soldiers responded with tear gas. Smaller numbers perhaps than factions had hoped for and fewer certainly than we've seen on previous occasions. Even so at look at one location north of Ramallah we witnessed Israelis standing near a settlement exchanging insults with Palestinians from a nearby refugee camp. Both sides hurled an occasional stone at the other. Then we saw a 13 year old Palestinian boy -- Mohammed Abu Hamza -- sling a rock toward the Israelis that fell far short. We heard a crack of a bullet. Then another. Moments later paramedics rushed to Abu Hamza who had a bullet wound to the lower leg. \nIt's unknown who shot him. Settlers and Israeli soldiers were standing nearby. The IDF told CNN that Israeli soldiers had used riot dispersal means to disperse rioters throwing rocks and that that included live fire. \nThis capped off a week of violence. The Israeli military increased checkpoints and their presence in the West Bank as part of a massive manhunt that is underway. Forty people were arrested as the search for those who killed two Israeli soldiers on Thursday continues. Two more people were injured in a shooting attack at a bus stop. The person or persons responsible are still on the run. Now four days earlier, seven Israelis were wounded in another drive-by shooting including a pregnant woman whose baby was delivered prematurely but that baby died days later. The IDF said they've killed the perpetrator of that attack which was claimed by the militant group Hamas.
