THERES ABOUT 160 PELICANS, BACK AT THE RESCUE CENTER NOT DOING AS WELL... </p>\n<p>THEIR REHAB WILL TAKE TIME. EMACIATED PELICANS ARE STILL ARRIVING HERE BUT IN FAR LOWER NUMBER COMPARED TO SEVERAL WEEKS AGO WHEN WE VISITED. So, some of the hypotheses are about the gale force winds,&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>or about the fish supply, or ocean temperatures.&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>The first few hours of care are crucial. If the pelican's temperature can be brought&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>up with supplemental heat, the vet says the birds respond well to supportive care..&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>however only a third of the scores brought in so far have survived.&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>(NATS)&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>1:44 Standup: These 11 pelicans have made it.
