Not to be outdone by our friends to the West, we had our own mini-gas explosion and fire in the early morning hours. For the last three weeks, the street in front of NY1News was torn up for the installation of a new natural gas line. All was well from last Friday until early this morning when an explosion made a frisbee out of a 100 pound manhole cover and twenty-foot flames shot into the icy night air.

This color promotional film is about the "Spray Master" Bituminous Distributor, a truck equipped with a tank body and a system for pumping hot tar asphalt or bituminous material onto a roadway. This is from Littleford Bros., Inc. and is circa the 1940s. Littleford was founded in 1882. At least during the 1930s, it was based in Cincinnati, Ohio. By 1931, it was producing a line of road maintenance equipment; the line was eventually discontinued, and the last commercially published serial number data ends in 1983. It acquired the J. H. Day Company in 1981, and the two firms merged in 1992 to form Littleford Day Inc.
