This 1952 travelogue film highlights Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), (00:00:35:00) known for centuries for the production of tea. Footage of it’s capital Colombo is seen at (00:01:00:00). At (00:01:30:00), we see footage of Ceylon’s previous capital, Kandy. Next we see the famous Buddhist temple, The Temple of the Tooth. (00:01:50:00) We then are treated to the magical sights of the Perahera yearly festival. (00:02:05:00) Principle crops (00:02:50:00) grown in Ceylon are rice, coconut, rubber and tea. Oxen (00:04:40:00) can be seen as part of a Ceylon farm. Footage of gemstone mines is shown at (00:05:10:00). Island fishing is shown at (00:06:10:00). Fishing sailboats are shown at (00:06:45:00). Incredible footage of elephants bathing is shown at (00:07:35:00). Famous Sigiriya Rock is shown at (00:08:55:00). Footage of Ceylon monkeys can be seen at (00:09:45:00), followed by amazing, crumbling stonework.
