This dolphin lives in large social groups in all the world's oceans, in both coastal and offshore waters. It is a highly social species with pods numbering hundreds or even thousands of individuals. Long-beaked common dolphins feed on small schooling fish such as anchovies, krill and cephalopods such as squid. Dolphin pods may work together to herd schools of prey.
