BEER THIEF SETS OFF CRAZY FIGHT 2009
A shoplifting attempt at a southwest Bakersfield gas station early Saturday morning ends with a store clerk being attacked and stabbed by a large group of young men. The incident began around 1:30am at the Fast-Trip on the corner of Panama Lane and South H Street. Store employees tell Eyewitness News that a teenage boy came in to the store and tried to walk out with a case of beer. Store clerks tried to stop the youth and that is when a wild fistfight broke out. One of the store clerks, 27-year-old Gerardo Munoz, tried to chase the teens away but the teens got out the car and jumped Munoz; that's when Munoz was reportedly stabbed. Munoz tells Eyewitness News he suffered a punctured lung and even though he is hospitalized he's in stable condition. Bakersfield Police say they have arrested two juveniles in connection to the stabbing. No word yet on the other teens that were also involved in the incident.
