In Tinseltown they love love because it always makes money, which they love the most. Ever since the legendary lover Rudolf Valentino swooped across the silver screen and planted a sensous kiss on his leading lady's lips, cinema has been re-telling the tale of love. The times have changed, the fashions have been transformed, the screen idols have come and gone, but the story remains the same: A man, a woman, a look, an embrace, the kiss....its love in anyone's language. Valentine's Day " Hollywood Greetings " is now available in stores across America.

STILL shows Kristel as Lady Chatterley during filming of "Lady Chatterley's Lover" STORYLINE Actress Sylvia Kristel, the Dutch star of the hit 1970s erotic movie "Emmanuelle", has died of cancer at age 60. Her agent, Features Creative Management, said in a statement on Thursday that Kristel died in her sleep on Wednesday night. Kristel, a model who turned to acting in the 1970s, had been fighting cancer for several years. Her breakthrough came in "Emmanuelle," a 1974 erotic tale directed by Frenchman Just Jaeckin, about the sexual adventures of a man and his beautiful young wife, played by Kristel, in Thailand. She went on to star in several sequels to "Emmanuelle," as well as in Hollywood movies including "Private Lessons" in 1981. In Hollywood, she sank into a world of drink and drugs. "I wish I could have skipped that part of my life," she said in a 2005 interview with Dutch newspaper De Volkkrant. But in an interview with AP in Brussels in 1996 Kristel said she owed a lot to the success of "Emmanuelle." "It is because of that film exactly that I'm still breathing and working and alive," she said. Her agent described her as one of the Netherlands' biggest movie stars, with more than 50 international films to her name. Among them were many erotically tinted films, including a 1981 adaptation, also directed by Jaeckin, of D.H. Lawrence's novel "Lady Chatterley's Lover" and "Mata Hari," four years later. She was honoured in 2006 with a special jury prize at the Tribeca Film Festival for a short animated film she directed called "Topor et Moi." Kristel told De Volkskrant, "love dictated what I did," saying her former partner, Belgian author Hugo Claus, persuaded her to star in "Emmanuelle." "He said, 'Thailand, that's nice, we've never been there and anyway the film will never come out in the Netherlands so you won't put your mother to shame,'" Kristel said. "In the end, 350 (m) million people saw it worldwide." Jaeckin, the director who is also a sculptor and has a gallery in Paris, said by telephone that he and Kristel maintained contact, calling each other every three to four months. But he said he hadn't spoken with her since February. "I am very sad, she was like a little sister," Jaeckin said. "We started together, "Emmanuelle" brought us big problems. We were a bit marked," he said. "It was a highly contested film then and now it is a cult film." He said that he knew immediately that Kristel was destined for the leading role. "When I saw her face, I was thunderstruck," he said. In an interview with the French Le Nouvel Observateur magazine, which has an online edition, Jaeckin explained that he went to the Netherlands to cast the role and, "I saw a quantity of very beautiful girls." Then by chance he saw Kristel, who worked at the agency and was not in the casting call, and immediately knew, "This is Emmanuelle." Kristel is survived by her partner Peter Brul and a son with Claus, Arthur Kristel. She is to be buried at a private funeral. Further details were not released. SOT Question - "Is that at all like you?" Soundbite Freddie Boath - "Yeah." 28.Clip, "The Mummy Returns" THE MUMMY RETURNS BRENDAN FRASER and RACHEL WEISZ return to our screens to save the world from unspeakable ancient Egyptian evil in 'The Mummy Returns', one of the summer season's many high profile sequels. At the Hollywood premiere on Sunday (30APRIL01) Universal Pictures were leaving nothing to the imagination as two camels, Egyptian statuary, and various "Egyptian" girls fought the stars for space on the red carpet. Two years after the release of the smash hit movie "The Mummy," Brendan Fraser reprises his role as the dashing legionnaire, Rick O'Connell. He says the director allowed the cast to take a special hands-on approach to the script. Rejoining our heroes ten years after their first special effects-laden adventure, we find O'Connell and Evelyn (Weisz) living and London and the happily married parents of a 9-year-old boy. They are forced back into their roles as action heroes and saviours of the world when the corpse of the mummy Imhotep rises from the British museum. The mummy is back, and the quipping duo are engaged in a race against time to stop Imhotep clashing with an even more ancient and powerful force - which would result in "unspeakable evil". To keep the sequel fresh, The Mummy Returns features a plot twist which shows Evelyn up to be a reincarnated ancient Egyptian queen, and an extra 24 million dollars on the budget ($100m, with a mere $76 spent on 'The Mummy'). Writer/director Stephen Sommers is hoping the extra money has been enough for Industrial Light and Magic to help the film set a new standard for special effects. The Rock, superstar of World Wrestling Federation (WWF) fame, also stars and says his legions of fans have been supportive of his acting ambitions. The muscle-bound wrestler plays the "Scorpion King," in The Mummy Returns, and talked about his reaction once he learned he had been selected to play the part. Also returning from the first movie is the original mummy, Arnold Vosloo. He escorted his wife Sylvia down the red carpet at the premiere, and listened as she described what it's like being married to The Mummy. Filmmaker John Woo - of Mission: Impossible 2 fame - turned out to catch a first glimpse of The Mummy Returns. Venezuelan actress Patricia Velasquez has a dual role in the film. She says her dance preparation helped her prepare for the extremely physical role, but she still has bruises to show for her effort. Director Stephen Sommers escorted his wife to Sunday's premiere and offered a few words of advice to moviegoers. Freddie Boath is one of the few new faces in The Mummy Returns and the 10-year-old says winning the part was a dream come true. Boath says playing the son of Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) wasn't acting at all - he has a lot in common with his young character. The film is released in the USA on 4th May, and then in the rest of the world throughout May and June. FILM CLIP DETAILS THE MUMMY RETURNS UNIVERSAL PICTURES 1 818 777 1000

TAPE_NUMBER: EN9931 IN_TIME: 10:11:15 LENGTH: 04:03 SOURCES: APTN RESTRICTIONS: No access Internet Music/performance rights must be cleared. FEED: SCRIPT: xfa Story: Honest bts Location: London Date: July 29th '99 British girl band ALL SAINTS may have been out of the limelight recently, but they have been busy. They have set their sights on Hollywood stardom, as three members of the hit band NICOLE APPLETON, NATALIE APPLETON and MELANIE BLATT have been shooting a feature film. 'HONEST' is an edgy black comedy set in London in the late 1960's. Directed by DAVE STEWART of Eurythmics fame, shooting started this week. APTN caught up with the cast and crew at Kirtlington Park Polo Ground at Kirtlington in Oxfordshire, where they were filming a hippy festival scene with hundreds of extras. The girls apart from SHAZNAY , who is concentrating on writing tracks for their next album star as GERRY, MANDY and JO, three guntoting, thieving streetwise East End sisters who rob 'up west' disguised as men. When one robbery goes spectacularly wrong, the girls are plunged into a fastpaced drama with surprising consequences. Newcomer PETER FACINELLI plays love interest Daniel Wheaton. The producers, Michael Peyser and Eileen Gregory, describe the characters as being on a collision course with the world of peace, love and understanding. The movie is set primarily in and around Carnaby Street, and the hippie dream of 1968's swinging London, and it's the brainchild of acclaimed British writers DICK CLEMENT and IAN LA FRENAIS in collaboration with DAVE STEWART. The girls are following the lead of those rather less cool popsters THE SPICE GIRLS, whose foray into acting 'SPICEWORLD: THE MOVIE' was ridiculed by the critics but netted them a cool few million. The good news is that all three All Saints do have some acting talent: they were once pupils at the prestigious Sylvia Young Drama School in London along with Baby Spice and have made no secret of their dramatic background.
