Made in 1959 by Jean Leduc, this French language film "Israel Frontiere Zero / Israel Zero Border" was a part of a series called "Le Monde En Action / The World in Action" presents a unique look at the State of Israel and the City of Tel Aviv in this era. <p><p>Made roughly 10 years after the founding of the State of Israel, the film begins with a look back at events of 1948. The creation of Israel from the British Mandate led to enormous conflict in the area. The film is presented in association with Le Figaro (:10). Headlines from the paper appear in the background. The film is presented by Le Monde En Action (:25). A train leaves from the Tel Aviv station (:30). Israeli pedestrian’s moves through the station (:37). An aerial view of the city and its pale cornered buildings (:45). The Mediterranean Sea runs up against Tel-Aviv (:50). Ground views show modern automobiles on modern highways (:57). Locals enjoy refreshment at open air cafes (1:01). A Le Figaro paper sits in the window (1:14). A woman sells flat cakes to pedestrians (1:20). Southern Palestine. <br/> <br/>Every year a pilgrimage to the tomb of the Prophet Rubin takes place in Southern Palestine along the sandy dunes south of Jaffa. M/S of a camel train walking towards the camera. They are carrying people and lots of belongings on their backs. "Arabs, full blown Bedouins, and every type imaginable flock to the temporary city which grows like magic in the desert - " High angle shot of group of makeshift homes made from cloth and poles. People and camels mill around. A woman stands in a large puddle washing a goat. Two Arabs shake hands whilst a boy looks on. Another man comes in and shakes both their hands. Panning shot of a group of people in some kind of communal tent. M/S of people walking close to makeshift shops. <br/> <br/>"Fairs and markets flourish, shops, restaurants and side stalls spring up over-night, to administer to the needs of twenty to thirty thousand pilgrims and visitors here."
