"We've got to look at the facts here. I mean, one thing that is absolutely clear is, if there is information in one
country about the potential recruitment or the actual recruitment of someone to a terrorist group, then that
should be information flowing to another country. And I want this system, which is the watch list system, where
we are trying to expand to Europe a system whereby we know who are potential terror suspects, we expand
that to other countries in the world and then we may have a better idea about people coming into different
countries, whether it's professional recruits or in other ways."

Ahmed, believed to be the driver of the Jeep, carried out the attempted bombings in London before returning
to Scotland, where Abdullah worked at a Glasgow-area hospital, and attacking the airport. Britain remains on
"severe" terrorism alert, the second-highest level, following the attacks. Counterterrorism agents claim they
have foiled several attacks in Britain since the July 7 bombs, including a plot to blow up several trans-Atlantic
flights.

both terrorist activity and our determination to root out terrorist cells that exist in our country."
15. Ban and Brown at news conference
"The tragic cycle of violence has been allowed to continue for too long. I think the people in Darfur have
suffered too much, the international community have waited too long. Therefore I put this Darfur situation as
the highest priority issue on my agenda," he said.
Ban acknowledged the African Union and its forces saying credit was due for stepping in when others could
not.
He pledged to continued to strengthen humanitarian efforts to relieve the suffering of more than two (m) million
people who were still caught in the crisis.
Ban then went on to criticise the ongoing internal tensions between political factions in Lebanon. "When a
people try to resolve a difference of opinion by assassinating, by eliminating their political opponents, that kind
of situation and society is just not acceptable," he said. "Therefore it was a firm, determined will expressed by
the United Nations by establishing this special tribunal."
Disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation were also key priorities.
"On the specific challenges of North Korea and Iran, the Security Council has acted by adopting important
resolutions. Let us seen the same commitment of member states at the global level." Ban's address also
traversed the issues of climate change, the Middle East and terrorism. Later Ban met with British Prime
Minister Gordon Brown said, at a Downing Street news conference.
Both Ban and Brown emphasised their determination to fight terrorism.
"We will go ahead with our measures to tighten up our defences against terrorist attacks. We will go ahead
with our measures to have stiffer penalties," Brown said.
"The message must be very clear around the world that we are steadfast in our opposition to both terrorist
activity and our determination to root out terrorist cells that exist in our country."
