Once open, Howrah Maidan will be the deepest metro station in India.</p>\n<p>To bless the new tunnel and train, officials conducted a puja, or Hindu religious ritual, to bring good luck, after the train successfully pulled into the station at Howrah Maidan.</p>\n<p>Bright-orange saffron flowers were sprinkled around the conductor’s compartment inside the train, and one worker broke a coconut amid cheers and applause from his colleagues.</p>\n<p>The full metro line through Howrah Maidan will be 4.8 km (three miles) long.</p>\n<p>Kolkata was the first city in India to have a metro system.</p>\n<p>Infrastructure is a major national initiative under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.</p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the country celebrated opening the first stretch of a new eight-lane express highway connecting the cities of New Delhi and Mumbai. That’s the good news. But engaged couples will pay a tad more to get hitched in 2023.&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>The average cost of a wedding, nationally, this year is $29,000, up $1,000 from 2022, according to online wedding planning site Zola. And in some big US cities, the cost is $35,000 and above.&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>The price tag for a happily-ever-after day is higher year-over-year for two reasons, said Zola - inflation and demand exceeding supply of wedding related goods and services. “Wedding industry vendors have had to raise their rates because they’re also paying more for goods and services like food, flowers and labor,” Emily Forrest, Zola’s director of communications, told CNN.&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>ADVERTISING&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>&lt;/p>\n&lt;p>Weddings started roaring back from a pandemic-triggered halt to all kinds of celebrations in 2022, and, ever since, the industry has seen a surge in demands for venues, photographers, wedding planners, florists and wedding cakes.
