He plays a wheelchair-bound Gulf War veteran caught up in a juvenile bank heist in the film, directed by English guerilla filmmaker, ASH. Adam was able to draw on his own military experience - he was in the army for two years - to create the role. But in the light of the tragic events that took place at Columbine High School this week, the film also has a startling relevance. The spring of 1998 brought with it a rash of shootings at several schools around the country. Written as a direct response to what is a growing trend of gun violence amongst teen and pre-teen youngsters, Pups focuses on a young, white thirteen year-old asthmatic boy who is about to burst from sensory, media and urban overload. On finding his mother's gun he launches into an explosive journey reminiscent of Dog Day Afternoon, dragging his girlfriend with him, armed with an array of movie-inspired reflexes. The film was written in four weeks and filmed in just sixteen days. Like most siblings attempting to emerge from the shadow of their more famous family partners, Adam is anxious to avoid comparisons with his brother. But he could claim to have had a head start on Leo, as he started acting at the age of five in TV commercials and the theatre. By the age of thirteen he had had enough of the child-acting scene in Los Angeles and preferred to spend his time skate boarding with his friends. After leaving high school, he joined the army for two years only to be tempted back to the acting world by the success of his brother. Adam's debut film role came about from a chance meeting with the director and writer of "Pups," ASH. Known only by the single name, the director's previous feature "Bang" was called "One of the top ten films of 1997" by the Los Angeles Times. The film, which also features performances by Burt Reynolds, Mischa Barton, Cameron van Hoy as Stevie and MTV's Kurt Loder, looks set to put it's director firmly on the movie map. Whether it will be the start of a titanic film career for Adam Farrar, remains to be seen. It took considerably more than a click of the heels, but the iconic shoes worn by Judy Garland in "The Wizard of Oz" are finally home where they belong. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p>On Monday, the FBI office in Minneapolis released photos of the ruby slippers being reunited with owner Michael Shaw. The cinematic collectibles worth an estimated $3.5 million were stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in 2005. They were recovered more than a decade later in 2018, and two men have been federally charged for their roles in stealing and concealing them. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p>During the ceremony, which took place in Garland's hometown of Grand Rapids, the iconic ruby slippers were placed on their original pedestal. The FBI says when Shaw, accompanied by his niece, laid eyes on the slippers for the first time in nearly two decades, he likened the experience to a heartfelt reunion with a long-lost friend.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>It was incredibly rewarding and fitting to see Mr. Shaw reunited with the Ruby Slippers, at Judy Garlands home, accompanied by his friends on the museum staff, said Special Agent Christopher Dudley, one of the investigators who worked on the case. It is a privilege for the FBI and our Art Crime Team to work alongside law enforcement partners who truly value the importance of protecting our nations cul</p>\n<p>tural heritage."</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Not only did Special Agent Dudley return the ruby slippers to Shaw, He also presented a single red sequin that was left at the scene of the crime nearly two decades ago. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p>The Judy Garland Museum was rocked by the theft, as the slippers were there on loan from Shaw. Although they were insured for $1 million, museum leaders say the theft shattered a long-standing friendship with their owner, tarnished the organization's credibility, and made a number of people instant suspects. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p>"The Judy Garland Museum survived the impact of this violation and is grateful to be a part of the homecoming," reflected John Kelsch, who was director of the museum at the time of the heist, noting that it negatively impacted operations for many years. The return of the slippers to Shaw, if not the museum, promises a fresh start. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p>"We continue to serve visitors from around the world: Expect a ruby slipper crime exhibit in our near future," Kelsch hinted. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p>For his part, Shaw introduced representatives from Heritage Auctions at the reunion ceremony, announcing that he is partnering with them to launch a worldwide tour of the slippers so people can see them before they are auctioned off later this year. Officials at the Judy Garland Museum say they are "working diligently" to find a way to buy them and keep them in a place where Garland's life and legacy is celebrated. </p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--SUPERS</b>--</p>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--LEAD IN</b>--</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><b>--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS</b>--</p>\n<p>After more shocking twists... than even Wizard of Oz could have imagined... the rightful owner of these original ruby slippers... finally got the reunion he'd spent 19 years waiting for.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>[TAKE SOT</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>DURATION:0:02]</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>{***SOT FULL***}</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>00:00:32;23 (Heritage Auction Video) "They're in very good shape." 00:00:34;11</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Michael Shaw owned the famed Hollywood props... one of just a handful of pairs in the world... for 35 years... until they were stolen in 2005 from this very podium... while on loan to the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>[TAKE SOT</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>DURATION:0:07]</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>{***SOT FULL***}</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>00:00:52;16 (Heritage Auction Video) "How do I feel, it's like welcoming back and old friend. ROLLING HEIST 2010
Coral Gables police released surveillance video Thursday of a jewelry store heist that involved a ruse in which one of the thieves appeared to be wheelchair bound. The release of the surveillance video comes nearly two weeks after the March 27th incident. That morning, police say four thieves strolled into a Mayor's jewelry store in Coral Gables and then took off with more than 20 Rolex watches, said Officer Kelly Denham, Coral Gables Police spokeswoman. Police say one of the thieves was in a wheelchair, but it was all a ploy to be allowed into the jewelry store at the Village of Merrick Park. As soon as they got inside, the man in the wheelchair sprayed mace at the security guard. The subjects then smashed a glass counter taking more than 20 Rolex watches and fleeing the store leaving the wheelchair behind. A fourth man was waiting in the get-away car. No other customers were in the store at the time of the robbery. Police said they were seen leaving in a white SUV, possibly a Hyundai. Coral Gables police say the jewelry store located at 342 San Lorenzo Avenue has been targeted in the past. Because of such break-ins, the store uses a buzzer to allow clients into the front door. Police are investigating a theft at a Coral Gables jewelry store in which the suspects sprayed mace at the security guard Saturday morning. Anyone with information about this crime, is asked to call Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Two men who became known as the "Rolex Robbers" killed a security guard during a robbery attempt at the Coral Gables jewelry store in 2003. In August of 2008, a jury sentenced Ehren Witt and Milton Hall to life in prison for the death of the security guard, Luis Brito.

Zoom in in Hannan, Ustinov and Mohammad Ali (on the left) 23. Pan of photo-op STORYLINE: Sir Peter Ustinov - a brilliant wit, mimic and two-time Oscar winner - has died of heart failure aged 82. Ustinov, a renaissance man whose talents included writing plays, movies and novels as well as directing operas, also devoted himself to the world''s children for more 30 years as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. He died on Sunday night in Genolier clinic near his home at Bursins in Swiss vineyards overlooking Lake Geneva, said Leon Davico, a former UNICEF spokesman and friend. Born in London on April 16, 1921, the only son of a Russian artist mother and a journalist father, Ustinov claimed also to have Swiss, Ethiopian, Italian and French blood - everything except English. Ustinov delighted in national differences and frequently referred to them in his works and public appearances. He was - as he noted proudly in his autobiography "Dear Me" - conceived in St. Petersburg, Russia, baptised in a village near Stuttgart, Germany, and reared under a succession of Cameroonian, Irish and German nurses. His imposing figure, variously described as resembling a teddy bear, a giant panda or a Georgian frontage, stayed with him throughout his career. Ustinov made some 90 movies and also wrote or directed plays and operas. His narration of Tchaikovsky''s "Peter and the Wolf" won him a Grammy. Among his film roles were a nomad in the outback who befriends a family in "The Sundowners," a one-eyed slave in "The Egyptian," Agatha Christie''s Belgian detective Hercule Poirot in "Death on the Nile," and Abdi Aga, an illiterate tyrant with pretensions of learning in "Memed My Hawk." Ustinov won the first of his best supporting actor Oscars for the role of Batiatus, owner of the gladiator school in "Spartacus" (1960). He won another for playing Arthur Simpson, an English small-time black marketeer in Turkey who gets caught up in a jewel heist in "Topkapi" (1965). His Nero - the Roman emperor who presided over the throwing of Christians to the lions - won him a Golden Globe for best supporting actor in the 1951 movie "Quo Vadis." More recently he was the voice of Babar the Elephant, played the role of a doctor in the film "Lorenzo''s Oil", and in 1999 appeared as the Walrus to Pete Postlethwaite''s Carpenter in a multimillion-dollar TV movie version of "Alice in Wonderland". He was performing by age three, mimicking politicians of the day when his parents invited Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie for dinner. His first attempts at acting were in the disguise of a pig in a dramatised nursery rhyme, as Friar Tuck of Robin Hood fame and as one of three nymphs tempting Ulysses from an Aegean beach. "Ulysses wisely passed us by," he recalled. He was educated at the prestigious Westminster School, but hated it. Ustinov learned to survive his school years by emphasising the clumsy and over-proportioned aspects of his character. He made a good soccer goaltender, he said, but never got to grips with cricket, a deeply important pastime in Britain''s private schools. Ustinov turned producer at 21 when he presented "Squaring the Circle" shortly before he entered the British army in 1942. Ustinov later became a staunch advocate for UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation. Ustinov recently attended a UNICEF event despite being confined to a wheelchair - sciatica gave him trouble walking, and diabetes left him with 30 percent vision and foot problems. Ustinov''s long service as a United Nations goodwill ambassador led UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to joke that Ustinov was the man to take over from him.
