07:31:52:00,Opening credits, Train speeds down track, Man smokes cigar, smiles, Camera pulls back to show man is sitting in office while toy train runs along track on carpet, A buzzer sounds, Man is annoyed by interruption, gets up, Man sits behind desk, speaks into intercom on desk, Man uses telephone, Two young businessmen talk in office, As they walk toward door, one of the young men opens bar, pulls out bottle, President of company sits back in chair, listens to radio, smiles, CU radio, Adams and Harvey enters his office, turns off the radio, Adams confronts president with bad news, President puts on hat and leaves, The two businessmen confer with each other, Int. grand bedroom, maid makes bed while two young women lounge, talk on phone, Car (convertible) drives along dirt road, President and his daughter get out of car, walk along dirt road, Bearded hillbillies looks out of window, Father and daughter enter the hillbilly's house, ask for help with car, Hillbilly points rifle at them, beard reaches down to chest, Father and daughter look at each other superciliously, The three hillbillies confer in a huddle, The hillbillies leave house, Father and daughter sit down, laugh, Father and daughter wait by the car, Man appears from under the car in mechanics overalls, Father and daughter are startled, Father hands mechanic a contract, he signs it, Father and daughter drive off (rear screen projection), Man in overalls frolics down the road (skips down the road, jumps for joy, overjoyed, happy), Hillbillies get out of an old, broken down truck, Three little girls walk towards truck carrying small suitcases, Whitey the mechanic emerges from the house in his Sunday best, an ill-fitting suit, The girls sing him a farewell song, Hillbillies prepare the truck for the journey, A turkey gobbles, Hillbilly pumps tire with air, Whitey climbs into truck and drives off, Bus turns corner along road, Whitey sits in passenger seat eating sandwich, Bus pulls up to pick up father and daughter, Father and daughter see Whitey, greet him, they sit together, Whitey offers daughter some of his sandwich, Sinister-looking man in hat and trench coat turns around and looks at passengers, Man announces stick up, points gun at passengers, Whitey sneaks out of the bus and grabs crook from behind, The two fight in the grass, Whitey defeats the crook, stands over him holding his gun, New York skyline, Int. swank clothing shop, daughter helps Whitey get fitted for a new suit, Daughter (Joan) and girlfriend gossip about Whitey, Montage, Joan and Whitey toast cocktails, CU of society column, dancing at a nightclub, CU cocktail shaker pouring into glass, musicians at nightclub, Joan and Whitey in formal clothes dancing (NIGHTLIFE MONTAGE NICE), Joan sits in office while Harvey asks her out, she keeps putting him off, Adams listens at the door smirking, holds up two glasses of cocktails, walks away, Whitey meets some of the radio company executives, Whitey rides in car with the executives (rear screen projection), Whitey realizes he's being abducted, he grabs the steering wheel, car skids to a stop, Whitey fights off the two executives, During fistfight, Whitey falls off railing by river, falls into the water, The two executives look over railing, look nervous, get back into car and leave, Great shot of radio tower with animated spinning waves emitted!, At the studio, woman reads advertisement into standup microphone, Joan talks to father in his office, The two executives gloat over their success in their office, one of them mixes cocktails, Bellhop in full uniform asks for Whitey in reception lobby, Whitey appears suddenly, is taken into the studio, Male singer croons while orchestra plays behind him, Whitey sneezes into handkerchief, Whitey is brought to the microphone, tries to stifle his sneezes, Whitey discovers his voice is gone, signals to his throat, Announcers, annoyed, pushes him away from the microphone, Whitey lies on bed, Joan feels his forehead, Doctor and nurse in surgical scrubs wash up, discuss case, Bird sings in ornate birdcage, Whitey, in robe, plays guitar, talks to bird, Housekeeper enters, talks to Whitey, Joan talks to Harvey in backseat of cab (rear screen projection), Joan enters, brings parcel for Whitey, Exterior radio repair shop. CU radio, Whitey sits in chair, listens to radio, CU on radio dial, hands turns knob. Various radios seen, tuned, Whitey tries to sing, discovers his voice has returned, Whitey dances around the shop, sings "I'll Sing While I'm Able.", Chairwoman applauds him, encourages him to find a manager, Man enters, jokes with the chairwoman, Whitey in suit and hat knocks on office door, Whitey enters office, secretary sits by door typing, does not stop to look at Whitey, Whitey introduces himself to Mr. Blodgett (agent), Mr. Blodgett answers phone, gives instructions to employees and takes more calls while Whitey auditions, Furniture deliverymen carry in sofa, Secretary by door opens and closes desk drawers loudly, Man hammers wall around window, Blodgett keeps answering calls. Gives Whitey a job, Whitey leaves the office triumphant, Whitey gives sigh of relief, Int. grand home, party in full swing, Butler announces guests, Guests are dressed like children, each takes turn sliding down bannister, Butler announces Prince's arrival, Musicians play fanfare. Bartender dressed like little kid, Prince slides down bannister, joins the party, Prince kisses hostess's hand, Prince is introduced to Joan, Men stand by bar, bartender is dressed like little boy (wide brimmed hat, bow at collar, knickers), Whitey enters the house, Musicians (guitar player and pianist) play, Whitey is shown his place by the guitar player, Whitey sings "I'll Sing While I'm Able" while couples dance, Joan smiles at Whitey, Prince watches Joan, Whitey asks for audience participation on his next number, Guests sing their own verses to his song, Prince has a turn at singing a verse (a little stuffy sounding), Laughter and applause, Joan strolls with Whitey in the garden, Whitey and Joan sing a duet, Prince joins them, takes Joan on a stroll, Whitey overhears guests talking about him, Whitey walks away dejected, Montage, dining, dancing and horse racing double exposed with newspaper headlines about Whitey and the Prince and fireworks and lots of spinning headlines, Whitey sits on couch while Prince, in dressing gown sips cocktail, tries to cheer him up. Whitey had hangover, Joan telephones Whitey, Whitey stumbles on his way to the phone, Whitey, dressed in his mechanics coveralls, sings song in his old garage, POV from garage, Joan gets out of her car, runs to Whitey, The two stroll from behind tree arm in arm, The End
