HOMELESS BEATING 2006
AFTER 2 WEEKS IN THE HOSPITAL, A HOMELESS MAN, WHOSE BEATING WAS CAUGHT ON SURVEILLANCE TAPE THAT GAINED NATIONAL ATTENTION IS WELL ENOUGH TO BE RELEASED. THE MAN WAS ATTACKED ON JANUARY 12TH BY BASEBALL BAT-WEILDING TEENS. THE ATTACK WAS NEAR THE FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY IN DOWNTOWN FORT LAUNDERDALE AND CAUGHT ON TAPE BY A CAMPUS SURVEILLANCE CAMERA. ON THAT SAME NIGHT, THE BOYS ALSO ATTACKED ANOTHER HOMELESS MAN OUTSIDE A CHURCH. A THIRD HOMELESS MAN WAS ALSO BEATEN AND DID NOT SURVIVE. ALL THREE ARE BEING CHARGED WITH THE THIRD HOMELESS MAN'S DEATH AND WITH BEATING THE OTHER MEN. THE TWO 18-YEAR-OLDS ARE BEING HELD WITHOUT BOND AND THE 17-YEAR-OLD IS BEING HELD IN JUVENILE CUSTODY.
