A restaurant and video store were heavily damaged. Throughout the region, authorities call the damage "unbelievable."

Austin Rain (06/21/1997)
The Austin, Texas area has been experiencing some heavy rain lately. A lot of people had to stay indoors today because of the constant rainfall. Quite a few outdoor activities had to be cancelled or postponed. Shoal Creek is flooding pretty quickly, and it's not out of it's ranks yet. All the rain Shoal Creek and other parts of the city got... put a damper on some plans. A big fundraiser was supposed to be held at Hill Country Cellars in Cedar Park, Texas... it was supposed to be an auction fundraiser to raise money for last month's Cedar Park tornado... and organizers were expecting a pretty big crowd. For now, the tornado funraiser has been rescheduled for next Saturday in Cedar Park... weather permitting.

For a while.. authorities were worried that four people might have been buried in the debris.. but thankfully everyone was eventually accounted for. Meantime.. residents are sifting through the ruins of their homes.. salvaging whatever they can.. grateful to be alive. In Jarrell.. residents of the ill-fated Double Creek Estates.. which was all but obliterated by the storms.. were finally allowed back to their homes.. or what was left of them. They'd been kept away as authorities searched for victims and survivors.
