There is now a building blitz in senior housing in Minnesota.More than 6,000 senior housing units are planned in the Twin Cities.It's being called the "Silver Tsunami" with the state's 1.5 million baby boomers nearing or now into retirement.Market Researcher Tom Melchior says most seniors want to stay in their own homes, but that will change as baby boomers grow older in the next decade."The availability of services to get a meal if they want to, to have housekeeping available to them, activities program transportation... those things are all very desirable to people as they get older," said Melchior.One of the biggest construction projects for senior housing in the Twin Cities is called Folkestone Senior Living. It's expected to open this fall in Wayzata.

There is no shortage of couples, just a shortage of married couples. Statistics show that in the past decade, the number of divorces has doubled, while the number of couples getting married has dropped. In a move to reverse that trend, officials in the capital city of Lima on Friday arranged a communal marriage ceremony for couples who were interested in legalising their relationship. In Peru, it is common for couples to live together for years without the legal benefits of marriage, and many couples opt to never take that final step. Civil magistrates in Lima say that 70-80% of the couples that do marry have lived together for years. Officials believe the communal wedding ceremony encourages couples who might have considered legalising their union, to take the plunge. Ana Mugurusa is the Head Civil magistrate for the principality of Lima. She says marriage allows couples to formalise their lives, buy a house and have greater financial stability. The communal wedding ceremony brought together fifty couples from around the capital city. Many of the couples said the expense of a wedding ceremony and the celebration afterwards prevented them from legalising their relationship.
