Irish Crowds Welcome Markievicz after Release
Irish crowds welcome Markievicz after release. Dublin, Ireland.

Huge crowd turns out in Dublin to greet Countess Constance de Markievicz on her release from prison. (Irish politician Markievicz was a leader and speaker in the Sinn Fein; she received a death sentence for her part in the Easter Rebellion of 1916; but was given amnesty in 1917.) Which is what's going on in this footage. LS of Dublin street filled with people; some of them standing in one place; but a stream of them moving down middle as if in a parade. Large Irish flag. Another LS of masses; with de Markievicz and another woman standing in an automobile moving through the crowd; the crowd is so dense the car is barely visible; so it really just looks like they are sticking out of the mob from the waist up and moving along on stilts on wheels or something. More shots panning over crowd. Irish patriotism; protest.
